Are You an Instagram Star? Here are 5 Tips To Make Money

Today everyone wants to be an Instagram star. The public portray it as the coolest job in the world. Despite all the glitz and glamour, there is painstaking work that goes into being a proper Instagram star.

Most successful influencers have a team of social media specialists as support. They plan campaigns and churn content on a regular basis, then track results.

Complicated as it may be to become an Instagram star, there are some tips that one can use as a guideline.

Have a Niche

Every successful influencer has an established niche outside of the Social Media realm. For example, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Beyonce are already famous artists. Christiano Ronaldo is a world-famous footballer. Kim Kardashian may appear as a name grown from social media. But she was a socialite, business woman, model and actress before becoming a social media sensation.

Influencers are experts in their respective communities. It is important that an aspiring influencer has a niche. Find something that inspires you, and contribute to the betterment of that cause.

Good niches include top categories on Instagram’s Explore section. They are Science and Tech, Style, Nature, Travel, Decor, Animals, Comic, Auto, DIY, Food, TV and Movies, and Art. After establishing a category, consider narrowing down further to find a specialty.

For example, Consumer Gadget and Fringe Science as sub-categories of Science and Technology. Avoid getting too far down to avoid losing sizable audience base.

Plan Your Content

All social media content needs structure in order to create impact. People relate to content better when they tell a story with a beginning and an end. Brands have a higher tendency to engage with you for the same reason.

Build a campaign once every 3 months. Start by imagining a potential brand that you want to collaborate with.

Say, for example, you would like a famous dog food brand to advertise with you. Begin by envisioning the final posts containing the ad itself. Then work your way up the Sales Funnel towards Reach and Awareness stage. Focus your content towards dogs, ranging from their cuteness and intelligence.

By publishing dog posts on a streak, you catch the attention of dog lovers. When you piqued their attention, move to promote that brand’s product. It’s okay if you are not making money from these brands yet. The campaigns you build for free act as portfolios. When brands notice you, they can see the work you've put in.

Proactively Share Branded Content

This expands on the above topic. You don’t have to be an active affiliate to promote a product. Most aspiring influencers are reluctant to promote brands for free. They do not like doing something for no pay, fearing a bad image. But the result is quite the opposite.

Brands that look for potential influencers do so by searching hashtags. If your posts appear alongside healthy Engagement, chances of hiring you increase. Brands can see they way you work and the attention you can capture.

Get a Social Media Team

Managing a social media account is time-consuming. One cannot grow as an Influencer while doing everything ourselves. We encourage hiring a social media expert. They help build campaigns, edit content, run ads and track performance.

They also generate reports suggesting improvements to your strategies. Over the months, your engagement and sales will grow. This frees your time towards more important tasks like responding to your Followers and attending high-profile events.

Get a Marketing Representative

Eventually a few brands start approaching you for partnership deals. There are many details that needs looking over at this point. They include the contract’s fine print, if the deals favor you, and if the brand reflects your image.

At this point, you will need a marketing representative. One that has your interest in mind. There are times when rejecting a lucrative job is more beneficial to your image.

The marketing representative can pitch you to potential brands for partnership opportunities. They can help negotiate contracts that are more in your favor.

Focus and Leverage

In order to make it as an Instagram star, one must first choose a niche. One that achieves the Goldilocks Effect in terms of audience size. Too many, and you will not appear as a specialist. Too few, and you won’t have enough audiences to attract brands.

There are a plethora of tasks and skills required to manage a social media account. Spending all the time doing these tasks will take your time from important tasks. As an Instagram star, your attention is best suited to engaging with your audience and attending events.

Acting on all 5 tips does not guarantee one the spot as an Instagram star. But it does lay down the foundations to building a successful personal brand. With the foundations sorted, being a major influencer may not be such an impossible task.
